Randy Leroy Baker

Randy Leroy “Red” Baker, beloved brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 6, 2026, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, at the age of 73. He was born December 23, 1952, in Benson, Arizona, to Rex Braley Baker and Flora Fenn Baker, both of whom preceded him in death. 

Randy lived in several Idaho communities throughout his life, including Blackfoot and Nampa. Upon retiring, he moved to Bonners Ferry, where he enjoyed living off-grid in his trailer and being close to the nature he loved so much. 

Randy was a man who enjoyed doing things his own way. He had a lifelong love of old classic cars and was especially fond of Ford and Lincoln automobiles. He was always tinkering with vehicles, and his trunk was rarely without the tools he might need for a repair. He also enjoyed remodeling houses and working with his hands. 

Randy was a talented artist who had a particular gift for drawing animals. He and his sister Vicki often competed with one another, as both were exceptionally talented artists. He also loved fishing, dogs, and the outdoors. He had a deep respect for nature and enjoyed learning about herbs and wild berries. His long white beard even led to a memorable year after retirement when he played Santa Claus at the mall. 

Randy was the father of Mark Anthony Baker, Chad Duke Baker, and the late Kandi Sue Baker, with his first wife, Carla Henry; and Laurie Sisney, with his second wife, Mary Allen. He is survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Randy was the second of ten children. He is survived by his siblings Ralph Baker, Vicki Mitchell, Sharon Wolfe, Mike Baker, Rex Byron Baker, John Baker, Scott Baker, and David Baker. His brother Larry Baker preceded him in death. 

Randy will be remembered for his independent spirit, his love of nature, his mechanical talents, his artistic ability, his love of animals, and the many unique ways he made an impression on the people around him. 

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at a later date.
