Phyllis Ann Karnes, born November 18, 1944, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, passed away June 18, 2026, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of faith and devotion that will be cherished for generations.

Phyllis graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1963 and married her high school sweetheart, Michael Karnes, that same year. They were married for 63 years. Throughout their marriage, she was a steadfast source of support to her husband, both during their years owning and operating K&K Logging and throughout their ministry. Phyllis studied at the Southwestern Baptist School of Music in Fort Worth, Texas. For 32 years, she faithfully served as Music Director, sharing her love of music and worship with her church family.

A woman of deep faith, Phyllis lived her life guided by her love for God and her commitment to her family. She was the heart of her home, a source of strength and encouragement, and a steady presence in the lives of all who knew her.

As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Homemaker, Phyllis dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home where family gatherings, laughter, and cherished memories flourished. Her love was evident in everything she did, from the meals she prepared to the thoughtful ways she cared for those around her.

Phyllis enjoyed many simple pleasures throughout her life. She had a special love for gardening and took great pride in the beauty she cultivated around her home. Music brought her joy and comfort; she loved to sing and has joined the heavenly choir. She cherished spending time with family and friends around the card table, where her laughter and competitive spirit created countless treasured memories.

She is survived by her children: Rhea and Eldon Burkett of Newport, Washington; Kris Allan of Renton, Washington; and Andy Allan of Ephrata, Washington; Michaell and Ray Smith of Camas, Washington. Her family was the pride and joy of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Phyllis was also a proud grandmother to Michael and Sara Smith of Washougal, Washington; Haley and Matthew Schaff of Clearfield, Utah; Tiffany and Tyler Westbrook of Spirit Lake, Idaho; Mackenzie Allan of Seattle, Washington; Logan Allan of Shoreline, Washington; Matthew Burkett of Nashville, Tennessee; and Steven Burkett of Phoenix, Arizona.

Her greatest delight in recent years was watching her family continue to grow. She was blessed with five beloved great-grandchildren: Ronan and Orson Smith, Olivia and Evalyn Schaff, and Stella Westbrook. Each held a special place in her heart, and she was delighted in following their lives and celebrating their milestones.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her siblings Judy Everhart, and Jerry Everhart. She is survived by her sibling Orrin and wife, Jolen Everhart of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; and sister-in-law Judy Everhart of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and their children.

Those who knew Phyllis will remember her for her unwavering faith, generous heart, and deep love for her family. She touched the lives of many through her kindness, wisdom, and compassion. Though she will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on and she is at peace with the Lord. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and love. She will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
