Norvin Hall Allen, Jr. was born to Norvin, Sr. and Willie Lee Allen on June 29, 1943 in Ripley, TN. Norv maintained lifelong friendships in Ripley, often returning throughout his life to share golf, fly fishing, and BBQ with family and friends. As a young man, he attended Columbia Military Academy before heading to the University of Tennessee and joining the ATO fraternity. Again, he made and maintained lifelong friendships there. After graduating, he served in the United States Air Force, flying many missions in Vietnam. He received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. After his service, he moved to California and flew for 12 years with Continental Airlines. Family life then took over with his marriage to Leslie Lattin in 1984. Continuing his love of golf, they traveled to Scotland to play the historic courses. They lived in San Diego, moving briefly to Tempe, AZ where their daughter, Kelly, was born. After returning to San Diego, Norv gave his life and love to Christ Jesus and grew in his faith.
Longing to live in a better community honoring faith and family, Norv and Leslie moved to Bonners Ferry, ID in 2013 to enjoy the best years of their lives. Here, he was the happiest ever with strong friendships in Christ, playing golf, and enjoying the beauty and peace of God’s country.
Norv was a Southern gentleman through and through. He was the North Star of his family, unwavering in his steadfast faith, his unshakable integrity, and his loving guidance. His expectations were high, but the fruits of his steady resolve are woven into the fabric of his loved ones. His memory will endure as the backbone of his family.
Jesus took him home on October 2, 2026. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie, devoted sister, Jane (David) Rogers of Cordova, TN, brothers Sherman Allen of Santa Fe, NM, and Bill (Carol) Allen of Eagle Rock, CA, daughters Carolyn Roy of Jupiter, FL and Kelly (Erik) Racer of Bonners Ferry, ID, and granddaughters Tess of Manhattan, NY and Khaleesi, Kaymbria, and Ellianah of Bonners Ferry, ID. He is preceded in death by his father, Norvin Allen, Sr. and his mother, Willie Lee Allen.
Private arrangements are being cared for by the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.
