Gilbert Russell Brown

Gilbert Russell Brown passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He was born on July 19, 1951, in Boise, Idaho, and spent his early years growing up in California.

Gilbert proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps, including an overseas assignment in Okinawa as a small munitions expert. Following his military service, he worked alongside his father in the asphalt business in California. Later, Gilbert moved to Parma, Idaho, where he began a 32-year career at the sugar beet factory in Nyssa, Oregon.

Above all, Gilbert was a devoted husband and father and a genuine, caring man who was always willing to help someone in need. He had a special way of being there for others, whether they needed a helping hand or simply someone to sit with and listen. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to care for others touched the lives of many.

In his younger years, Gilbert enjoyed hunting. Later, he found great joy in camping and four wheeling with his family. He loved spending time outdoors and making memories with the people he loved. Some of his happiest moments were found in the simple times and adventures shared with family.

Gilbert was also a man of strong faith. He was active in his church and loved God. His faith was an important part of his life and influenced the way he cared for, supported, and served others.

Gilbert is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Brown, whom he married in 1992. He is also survived by his daughters, Christiana Rae Gomez and her husband, Robert “Chubby,” and Irene Louise Brown; his stepdaughters, Chantelle Renée Stein and her husband, Josiah, and Nichole Marie Hoynacki; his adopted daughter, Laura Elizabeth Brown; and his foster son, Edwin Bonayon and his wife, Ashley.

He also leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Virginia McDaniel, along with many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his father, Charles Orval Brown, Jr.; his mother, Rosa Lee Brown; and his siblings, Dawna Babauta, Susan Brown, LaVonda Brown, and Duane Brown.

Gilbert will be remembered for his genuine heart, his willingness to help others, his love for God, and the countless memories he made with those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The love he shared and the memories he created will remain in their hearts always.
