Danny Kaye Lockman, 78, left for Elk Camp on September 27th, 2025, after a 56-year-long battle with Agent Orange. He was surrounded by peace, family, and more love than the room could hold.

Danny was born in Bonners Ferry on December 5th, 1946, to Lester Ernest & Hilma Anna Ida (Berg) Lockman, the 10th of 12 children. He joined the Army in 1964, proud to serve the country he so loved. He married the love of his life, Louise Bennett, on February 2nd, 1968. He deployed to Vietnam ten months later. After his honorable discharge in 1972, he settled down in Bonners Ferry to raise his family.

Danny wore many hats over the next five decades. Logger, Fencer, Police Officer, Corrections Officer, Hunter, Trapper, Surveillance Operator/Director, Retired Old Fart, Gardener. He loved talking to people and would chat the ears off of anyone who stopped to say hello. His garden was his pride and joy – his happy place. Growing food from the earth and sharing it with others filled his soul with joy.

He is survived by his wife Louise, son Robert, daughter Kristina, sister Cheryl, brother Michael, and Yorkie (favorite child) Al. Grandchildren Shane Rucker, Courtney Rucker, Ethan Lockman, Bridgette Tuttle, Granddog Brody Lockman, several great-grandchildren, and more nieces and nephews than you can shake a stick at. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ernest, Alan, Leroy, Larry, Jamie, Charles, Lonnie, Gordon, sister Barbara, nephew Mikey, and his son, Mark.

Think of him when you stop to share a word and a laugh with someone in your path. Plant a seed or two for him in the spring.

Services will begin at 2:00pm Saturday, October 4th in Bonners Ferry Trinity Lutheran Church.
