Bonnie Jean Collins, 74, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2026 ending her long battle with cancer. She was born on October 11, 1951 to Wanda and Jack Love in Lebanon, Oregon.
Bonnie grew up in Homedale, Idaho. She was one of seven children. She was high spirited and had a love for adventure which earned her the nickname of the family’s gypsy. She loved traveling and seeing new places. Although she was raised in Idaho her travels allowed her to call many places home. She lived in Alaska, California, Nevada, Arizona, Kentucky, and Washington before returning to Idaho in 1998 to be closer to her children and grandchildren in Bonners Ferry.
She was a very hard worker her whole life, and she worked a wide variety of jobs from cooking in restaurants, to pruning trees, a paraprofessional in a local elementary school, and housekeeping. Bonnie had a green thumb and enjoyed taking care of her many houseplants in her younger years. She was an amazing cook and used to love hosting holiday meals for her large family.
Bonnie has been an Eagles Auxiliary member since 2004. She made lifelong friendships with many other members there, and was very proud to be a part of all the charitable work the Eagles did and continues to do to help the community.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Wanda and Jack, her brother Larry Love, sister Pam Carson, grandsons Nathaniel Vandenberg and Trevor McRoberts, and niece Ashly Steele.
She is survived by her brothers Terry Love and Jerry Love, her sisters Alta Steele and Ronda Sanders, her children Tonnie Kuhlman and Bryan McRoberts, grandchildren Nicholas, Mitchell, and Mikayla Vandenberg and Dominic McRoberts, three great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bonners Ferry Eagles later this summer for Bonnie. An announcement will be made as soon as the date is determined.
